An event held at the Grand Theatre, Swansea on the 8th of February, 2008 celebrated the success of supported employment and most importantly recognised the achievement of some of the people who have found work through WISE.
In a spirit of fun and competition, WISE invited nominations from employers where WISE had placed staff all over the Swansea, Neath and Port Talbot areas. Twenty one people were nominated as staff who had made a significant contribution in their business.
Eventually, the nominees were whittled down to three winners who each received one of the coveted ‘WOSCARS’!
The winners were
•David Sherwood of Mecca Bingo Ltd in Cwmdu,Swansea
•Caroline Hough of Bishop Vaughan School
•Michael Bristowe of the Morfa Parc restaurant (opposite the Liberty Stadium)
Our thanks go to the the Right Worshipful the Lord Mayor of the City & County of Swansea, Councillor Susan Waller for presenting the nominees with their certificates and to Mr Kevin John who compered the event and kept everyone laughing with his quick witted humour.
The event was finished off with a buffet and a disco in the evening and by all accounts a grand time was had by everyone, not just the WOSCAR winners!
